Paul Mescal is an Irish-born actor. He gained recognition for his role as a lead in the miniseries *Normal People*, in which he received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Prior to his acting career, he played Gaelic football for the under-21 team for County Kildare and a member at Maynooth Football Club, where he played as a defender. His ex-coach Cian O'Neill said of Paul Mescal as "very mature for someone so young. Physically, he was very strong. He was an outstanding scorer." After sustaining a jaw injury, Paul ended up giving up Gaelic football. In 2017, he received a BA with a BA in Arts from Dublin's Trinity College University.
